At our club, children come first. We are fully aware of the responsibility that comes with working with children and adolescents in a sports environment, and for that reason, we have a firm and unwavering commitment to their protection and well-being. Our objective is clear: to build an Atlético de Madrid with zero tolerance towards any form of violence against children, and to ensure that all our spaces — training sessions, competitions, social and educational activities — are safe, protective, and free from risk.
To achieve this, we have developed a strong and comprehensive Child Safeguarding System, aligned with current legislation and best national and international practices. This system includes specific measures for prevention, detection, response, and training, applicable to all individuals and activities involving minors across the club, including the Foundation.
How is our Child Safeguarding System structured?
CHILD SAFEGUARDING POLICY
A framework document that outlines the club’s principles, commitments, and institutional approach to the protection of children and adolescents.
CODES OF CONDUCT
Clear behavior rules applicable to both sports and non-sports staff, coaches, families, and minors, aimed at fostering safe and respectful environments.
PROCEDURE FOR RESPONDING TO RISK SITUATIONS
Defines clear procedures for prevention, training, and awareness-raising among personnel involved in the training and care of athletes, along with mechanisms for reporting and responding to potential violations of rights.
ANTI-BULLYING PREVENTION AND RESPONSE PROTOCOL
A specific guide for preventing and addressing peer-to-peer bullying, both in person and online.
CHILD SAFEGUARDING STRUCTURE
A network of professionals responsible for the system: Committee, Child Safeguarding Officer, Deputy Officers at each location, etc.
PREVENTIVE AND PROTECTIVE MEASURES
Concrete actions implemented in all club activities to reduce risks and safeguard minors’ well-being.
RISK MAP
Identification of spaces, dynamics, or activities with greater vulnerability, along with corrective measures to prevent harm.
AWARENESS AND TRAINING PROGRAM
A continuous training and awareness-raising plan for all groups within the club to foster a culture of protection.
Our safeguarding structure: a visible-reference pyramid
We present a pyramid-shaped structure highlighting the key child safeguarding contacts at the club. This visualization helps children, families, and staff easily identify the individuals they can turn to for support, questions, or concerns.
This model ensures a quick, approachable, and effective response to any situation that may affect a minor's safety or well-being.
