Vrsaljko, Diogo Jota, Mensah and Santos made their debut with our shirt

Many players from the Academy also took the field, commanded by an Amath who played 72 minutes of the match. Caio, Theo and Juan Moreno were also novelties.

Three of the red and white signings presented this summer made their debut as players of Atlético de Madrid in the fourth Jesús Gil y Gil Memorial Trophy, that was won by our team after winning CD Numancia by 0-2. 

Sime Vrsaljko and Diogo Jota were the first to debut, since they were part of the starting eleven that Diego Pablo Simeone lined up this Saturday in El Burgo de Osma. The Croatian left back was solid in defence and the Portuguese winger, working on the attack, where he was about to score the 0-2 just before half-time, when both players were substituted. 

For his part, the Colombian forward Rafael Santos played played the last 30 minutes of the match, entering on 60' for Saúl. The Colombian appeared before the press and was satisfied with the minutes he played. "I'm happy. I want to contribute, learn a lot and adapt to the game scheme, the intensity and the physical part," he said.   

Mensah, for his part, substituted Juanfran on 70 minutes of the match and also made his debut with our shirt.

Additionally, many red and white players from the ranks also had their opportunity, being a starter the striker of Atlético de Madrid B Amath Ndiaye and playing 72 minutes, before leaving his place to Hector.  

In the second half it was the turn for Bernabé in the goal and the youths Juan Moreno, Caio Henrique (both midfielders) and Theo Hernández, who shared the pitch with his brother, Lucas Hernández. Precisely the youngest of the Hernández‘s appeared before the media. "I am very happy. I've seen the team doing very well. I have to keep working and learning from the best," he said.
