THANKS TO THE FANS FOR THEIR UNCONDITIONAL SUPPORT

Gabi: "We will strive to get better every day"

The captain went through the mixed zone after the derby. He spoke of the desire in the dressing room to win in the Copa del Rey final.

Despite the adverse outcome at the Calderon today, the midfielder stressed the team did things well. "I think you can not blame anything about the team, we are having a great season and we have an opportunity for revenge soon."

The derby was played to a backdrop where bad luck and opportunism were key for the opponent's victory. "The team had started very well, in the first few minutes you could see that we wanted to win the game. Then they have managed to equalise down to a bit of bad luck. We started to control the pace a little and then in a quick move they have won the game," he said.

Asked about the team that Jose Mourinho brought today, Gabi said. "Any player of Real Madrid is ready to play and they’ve played the best team they thought for today's game and we have not been able to win."

Gabi regretted not having taken the opportunity to climb one position in the league and was looking forward to a rematch in the final. "The team has worked hard all season to be as high as possible and we have not got up in to second place today. The final will be a completely different game. It will be a fight for a title and we like finals."

Finally, the captain had words of encouragement for the fans, as always, and promised to fight and never surrender until the end. "It’s hard to say to the fans in words what I feel. We can only continue to put in the effort to work every day and we have to thank them for their unconditional support."
