Atlético de Madrid could not add a victory it had at the half-time thanks to Griezmann’s great goal from a free-kick which vanished in the final stretch of the match. The game seemed to be controlled from the beginning and only in the last quarter of an hour did the home players enjoy clearer chances, two that went to the posts and the two goals.

The team finished lessened by the injury of Giménez, with the three substitutions already made and Sporting took advantage to score the second goal at the end of the fixture. Three very important points in the fight for the League podium that went to limbo in the final stretch.
