Welcome, Vermeeren!
The midfielder arrives at our club following the agreement with Antwerp for the transfer of the young Belgian.
Arthur Vermeeren (7 February 2005, Lier, Belgium) is a new Atlético de Madrid player after the agreement reached with Antwerp for the transfer of the midfielder to our club, signing for the remainder of the season and six more seasons.
At only 18 years old, the midfielder already knows what it means to play in the Champions League with Antwerp, being one of the most important players of the team and winning the MVP award of the duel between the Belgian team and FC Barcelona in Belgium. Trained in Antwerp's youth ranks since 2018, Arthur progressed until he made his first-team debut on 22 October 2022. In less than a year and a half with the first team, the talented young player, who has even worn the captain's armband at the age of 18, has made 66 official appearances for Antwerp, scoring three goals and assisting on eight occasions. He has one Belgian League, one Belgian Cup and one Belgian Super Cup to his name.
His spectacular growth and performance at club level led to him being called up by the Belgium senior team, with whom he has already made his debut and played two matches in October and November 2023. In this way, we incorporate to our club one of the most talented midfielders with the greatest projection at European and world level and who already knows what it is like to play matches of maximum demand.
The Belgian international passed the relevant medical examination at the Hospital Universitario Vithas Madrid Arturo Soria and then went to the club's offices in the Cívitas Metropolitano, where he was received by our CEO, Miguel Ángel Gil, to sign his contract with our club.
Welcome, Vermeeren!
