Objective: Beat Rayo to stay in the LaLiga top 3
Atlético host Rayo Vallecano this Thursday 24 April, at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano (21:30 CEST), in one of the final three home games of the current LaLiga season.
Just six games remain in LaLiga EA Sports, and our team is determined to give the fans a win in this final stretch of the campaign, starting with Rayo Vallecano. The aim is clear – to secure another home victory, just like in the last outing at the Metropolitano against Valladolid (4-2), and stay firmly in the LaLiga top 3. Only three home games remain: this one against Rayo Vallecano, then Real Sociedad on Saturday 10 May, and finally Betis on the penultimate matchday.
So far, we’ve only lost once at home this season – to Barcelona. It’s been a campaign largely marked by home wins, with a few draws against Espanyol (0-0), Real Madrid, Celta, and Villarreal (1-1). A strong finish at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano is key, and that means winning all three remaining home fixtures.
Rayo Vallecano are next up – a side coming off a 1-1 draw at home to Valencia. On the road, though, they’ve made life tough for top sides: a narrow loss to Barcelona (1-0), a close game against Real Madrid (2-1), and a 3-1 defeat away to Athletic. They’ve also pulled off solid away wins, including a 2-0 victory at Alavés in Mendizorroza and a 1-0 win over Leganés in Butarque.
The reverse fixture earlier this season ended in a 1-1 draw in Vallecas, with a goal from Gallagher. Last season, Atlético claimed a 2-1 win thanks to goals from Reinildo and Memphis.
