Two of our Academy sides trained on Monday for the first time at our new facilities.
Two of our club’s youth teams trained on Monday for the first time at our new Wanda Alcalá de Henares Training Complex. Our Cadete E and Atlético Madrileño Cadete C sides were the first to do so out of the 17 teams that are to train at our new facilities. Entrance to the training complex is free for club members who show their membership card at the gate.
SIZE OF THE FACILITIES
- 69,960
- square metres
The Wanda Alcalá de Henares Training Complex is located close to the Wanda Metropolitano. The 69,960 square-metre facilities will have a natural grass stadium with capacity for around 2,700 people, four 11-a-side artificial grass football pitches, a 7-a-side football pitch, a technical area for goalkeepers, and multipurpose spaces (changing rooms, gym, store, cafeteria, warehouses, teaching room, medical services, etc.).
Construction work for our new facilities began on Feb. 2, 2018. On that day, our CEO Miguel Ángel Gil, club president Enrique Cerezo, men’s first team player Saúl Ñíguez, Academy director Emilio Gutierrez and Atlético de Madrid Femenino director Lola Romero placed the first stone alongside a representation of the Alcalá de Henares Town Hall headed by Mayor Javier Rodríguez Palacios.
With these new facilities, our players will be able to develop personally and professionally. It will also host our Academy’s international programs.
