European nights return to the Riyadh Air Metropolitano
Our team face their second UEFA Champions League fixture next Tuesday 13 October at 21:00 CEST.
The big European nights return to the Riyadh Air Metropolitano. Our stadium will once again be dressed for the occasion as we welcome another UEFA Champions League fixture, with Manchester United our opponents on Tuesday 13 October from 21:00 CEST. It will be our first home fixture in this season's edition of Europe's premier club competition, making it a special occasion to reunite with our supporters and experience the magic of the Champions League together.
Our team head into the fixture after beating Deportivo Alavés 2-1 in their most recent league outing, while the English side drew 1-1 with Tottenham. In their opening Champions League fixture, our team suffered a 2-1 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield, while Manchester United began their European campaign with a 4-0 victory over Sabah Baku.
The two sides' previous UEFA Champions League meetings date back to the 2021/22 season, when we faced the English side in the last 16. In the first leg, played at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano, we drew 1-1 thanks to a João Félix goal. In the return leg at Old Trafford, our team produced a memorable performance, securing a 1-0 victory through a Renan Lodi goal to book our place in the quarter-finals. More recently, this summer we faced Manchester United in a friendly in Stockholm, which ended in a 2-1 victory for the English side, with Arnau Ortiz scoring our goal.
The first European meeting between the two clubs dates back to the 1991/92 season, with Luis Aragonés in charge of the Rojiblancos, when we faced Manchester United in the last 16 of the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup. Our team secured a commanding 3-0 victory at the Vicente Calderón before sealing our progress at Old Trafford with a 1-1 draw, writing another memorable chapter in our history in European competition.
The Riyadh Air Metropolitano is preparing for another great Champions League night. Our home has become a true fortress thanks to the unwavering support of our fans and will once again take centre stage in a high-stakes fixture this Tuesday. The backing of our supporters from the stands will be crucial as we take on this latest European challenge.
