Our team beat Levante in a new Copa del Rey duel and now await their opponent for the next round of the quarter-finals. A goal and an assist from Marcos Llorente sentenced the local team.
Atlético de Madrid and Levante played a very even first half. Diego Pablo Simeone's men wanted to take control of the match and tried to do damage from the depth of their right flank, where the associations of Llorente and Nahuel were a constant when it came to setting up the attacking play of our team.
Despite the Red and White dominance, the local side knew how to apply themselves in defence and didn't allow any clear chances for our team during the first 45 minutes.
The second half started well for our team. Again coming out with the intention of dominating possession, the goal arrived shortly after the restart of the game. A recovery in three quarters of the field ended with a great action by Ángel Correa and a deep pass for Llorente who put the ball low and powerful to the far post where he found Morata to send it into the back of the net and make it 0-1.
Our team continued to control the game and with just over ten minutes to go, Correa and Mario Hermoso came close to a second goal. First, the Argentinian had a right-footed shot from just outside the area, but the goalkeeper made a great save to turn it behind for a corner. After the corner, Hermoso rose above his own man to head a shot that was again saved by the home keeper.
With the game nearing its conclusion, Marcos Llorente still had the legs to make a powerful run that eventually found him in front of Femenías, who could do nothing about the perfect finish from our '14'. The goal from an all-rounder Llorente was the end to a serious game from our side who sealed their place in the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey.
