The Wanda Metropolitano will host the 2019 Champions League final. Our new stadium has been chosen by UEFA to be the venue of the deciding match of the continent's top club competition that will be played in two years.
UEFA has selected the Wanda Metropolitano to be the venue of the final of the 2019 UEFA Champions League final. It will be the first big international final that will be played in our stadium, which was inaugurated last September 16th in the League match that Atlético played against Málaga (1-0). For Atlético de Madrid, it is an honour that UEFA trusts in our facilities to play the most relevant match of the Champions League.
Our stadium fulfils all the requirements to be the setting of one of the most relevant duels in the world of football. The Wanda Metropolitano has been constructed to meet the highest standards of comfort and safety to offer the best experience for all its visitors.
The Wanda Metropolitano can seat 68,000 spectators and is at the technological forefront due to agreements with top companies in their sector. Thanks to LG, the stadium has three big video scoreboards and a 360º ribbon board, unique in sports facilities in Spain. And thanks to Philips Lighting it has become the first 100% LED stadium in the world. In addition, due to the agreement with Telefonica as a comprehensive technological partner, makes Atlético’s stadium lead in communication. The new stadium of the Atléticos is a sustainable venue, technologically advanced, very comfortable for all the fans and prepared to create a spectacular atmosphere.
In addition, it is a well-communicated stadium thanks to how easy it is to get there on public transport, since it has a Metro station (Metropolitan Stadium, Line 7) just next to the facility, and others (Las Rosas in Line 2, Canillejas in Line 5 and Las Musas in Line 7) in a radius of approximately 20 minutes on foot. Its proximity to the airport is also notable. Its location close to the Madrid Barajas Adolfo Suárez Airport will make easier both the arrival and the exit of the fans who come to Madrid to attend the final.
Madrid will once again be the city to host a great sports event. The city will have the opportunity to show its commitment with sport as it has already done countless times. And, the Wanda Metropolitano will also have the honour of being the fourth Spanish stadium in to host a Champions League final after the Santiago Bernabéu, the Sanchez Pizjuán and the Camp Nou.
Therefore, the Wanda Metropolitano has already marked in red one of its first big dates. The whole world of football will look at our new stadium in the 2019 Champions League final.
