The Wanda Metropolitano is a candidate to host the Champions final in 2019

Baku’s National Stadium (Azerbaijan) is the other stadium that could host the match.

The Wanda Metropolitano is a candidate to host the Champions League final of 2019. Our new stadium for next season will compete with Baku’s Olympic Stadium (Azerbaijan) to be the match’s venue. The final selection will take place in September, 2017.

UEFA announced this morning that last 27th January was the deadline set for associations, in the name of the clubs, to state their interest in organising the continental finals of 2019 and made public the lists of the stadiums that are competing to host these matches.

Until next 6th June, the period in which the potential venues that are a part of this list can send their final offers will be open.

The Wanda Metropolitano fulfils all the requirements to be the setting of the Champions final. Our new stadium is being built to answer to the highest standards of comfort and security with the aim to offer the best possible experience to its visitors.

In addition, in the same candidacy, the Alfonso Pérez Coliseum will compete to be the venue for the final of the Women’s Champions League, since both matches must be played in the same city, as UEFA’s regulations stipulate.

Our new stadium for next season

In the 2017/18 season, we will open our stadium and the fans are giving their all to live this historic moment in person on the stands of the Wanda Metropolitano. The response of the Atléticos has been spectacular, and several months away from the inauguration of the Wanda Metropolitano, 40,026 people have already reserved their seat to experience live our team’s games in what will be our new house.
