The red and white family grew at a record pace this campaign
The 2014-15 season closes with record figures in social media. More than 78,000 members, an 86% occupation in the Calderón, 738 supporters’ clubs, 13 sold out matches and more than 14 million fans on social networks.
If it has been a great season sports wise, the social media campaign can be described as excellent. Our fans have demonstrated once again their unconditional support, breaking all kinds of records. We have finished the year with the highest number of members in our history: 78,097 members in the red and white family, which are divided into 47,890 pass members and 30,207 non season pass members. We should note the increase of members from outside of the Community of Madrid, which already exceeds 25% of the total red and white members. Attendance to the Vicente Calderón Stadium has also been outstanding, having a full house 13 times in the different competitions played this season. Almost half of the 28 official matches played at home in our stadium were sold out. All the tickets were sold out in seven games of the League (Sevilla, Espanyol, Real Madrid, Valencia, Elche, Athletic and Barcelona), in three of the Champions (Juventus, Bayer Leverkusen and Real Madrid), in two of the King's Cup (Real Madrid and Barcelona) and in the Spanish Super Cup.
THE DATA
- 86%
- occupation has been registered in our Stadium this 2014-15 campaign
The occupancy rate in our Stadium has undergone a remarkable growth from last season’s 78% to this season’s 86%, with an average of 46,486 spectators per game. In addition, our Club now has 738 supporters’ clubs around the world. Besides Spain, we have supporters’ clubs in 26 countries, which very clearly speaks to the team’s feelings knowing nothing of frontiers. A sentiment expressed by our fans at events organized by the Club on the Supporters’ Clubs Day and Children’s Day, where thousands and thousands of Atléticos from different parts of Spain and the world enjoyed two days of celebrations with their love for Atlético de Madrid as a common denominator.
The enormous interest that our team generates has also had its reflection in social networks, where figures as spectacular as those mentioned above have been reached. We recently surpassed 11 million followers on Facebook, where our fans interact, learn about news and enjoy videos and contests that star our players. To these followers we should add more than 1,650,000 fans that follow us through our Twitter accounts in Spanish and English. These figures have allowed us to be placed among the first clubs worldwide in social media, since we are the thirteenth club with more fans on Facebook and the twentieth on Twitter.
If we add to the fans we have in these two large social networks the 613,000 fans that follow us via Instagram, the 715,000 who learn about our club through Google+, our Youtube subscribers and the more than 200,000 who are Weibo fans, we can congratulate ourselves that the red and white family already exceeds the 14 million followers in social networks!
