PREVIEW | ATLÉTICO DE MADRID – DEPORTIVO ALAVÉS

Taking on Alavés in our first home match of 2026

This Sunday at 16:15 CET, we face the Vitoria-based side on Matchday 20 of LALIGA EA SPORTS.

The Riyadh Air Metropolitano welcomes Deportivo Alavés this Sunday at 16:15 CET in what will be our first home match of the year.

The fixture also marks our return to league action following the Spanish Super Cup and the Copa del Rey round of 16. In our most recent LaLiga outing, played away against Real Sociedad, we drew 1-1 thanks to a goal from Sørloth.

Atlético come into this league match after securing a 1-0 away win at the Estadio de Riazor against Deportivo de La Coruña in the Copa del Rey round of 16. A superb free-kick from Antoine Griezmann sealed our place in the quarter-finals.

Alavés, meanwhile, come off the back of a 2-0 victory over Rayo Vallecano, also in the Copa del Rey round of 16. Toni Martínez and Carlos Vicente were on the scoresheet for Eduardo Coudet’s side.

The last time we faced the Basque outfit was at Mendizorroza back in August, on the third matchday of the season, which ended in a 1-1 draw. Atleti's only goal was scored by Giuliano Simeone, who earlier this week extended his contract with the club until 2030.

Alavés’ most recent visit to our stadium took place last season and ended in a 2-1 Atleti victory thanks to goals from Griezmann and Sørloth.
