BEFORE SETTING OFF TO CATALUNIA

Simeone: "We will look at which moment we can hurt them"

Convinced they can overcome Barcelona despite the home side being favourite, Simeone offered his thoughts ahead of the Spanish Super Cup final second leg.

Moments before heading to Barcelona with the rest of the squad to contest the second leg of the Spanish Super Cup, Diego Pablo Simeone appeared before the media to express his feelings towards the meeting. "We are on the same line because nothing changed. We go in to the game with everything wide open. Playing at their place with this squad doesn’t change anything. We will go there looking to compete as we always do," he said.

During the first leg, the Argentine coach stunned the opponent placing Diego Costa on the right wing. Looking forward, he would not reveal his intentions but said there may be some alternatives. "Without breaking the structure, an alternative must be sought. We’re trying to reach the goal which is to win and there are different ways, we can not always use the same."

The team will need at least one goal to win the title. Despite this, the coach is not going to change the philosophy that his team, by its nature, is more comfortable. "There are many possibilities. Some choose to play more advanced. We choose to play a way that suits the characteristics of the team, we try to win," he said in the preview.

Barcelona remain favourites to win the tie, but Simeone will be looking to win the sixth title in three years for his loyal supporters. "They are better than us and have more chances of scoring. We have to prepare for that because they are better. The game lasts 90 minutes and we will look for how we can hurt them," he said.

Finally, Simeone was asked about possible changes in the Barca team, something that does not concern the technician. "For those of us who like to watch football, hopefully Messi will play, Neymar is also a great entertainer. We’re expecting the best of Barcelona. We’ll be ready for the best Barcelona, " he concluded.
