Simeone: "The tests went well'
The Argentine coach is happy with the performance of his team in the Euro-American Cup, with work that will serve for the future commitments of the new season.
The Euro-American Cup has come to an end and in South American with two wins and one loss for Atletico de Madrid. Diego Pablo Simeone spoke in the press room at the Centenario in Montevideo to take stock of the work. The coach noted that his were getting better with every game and picking up experience for the new season which certainly seems very exciting.
"During the cup went from low to high in terms of performance. In the Estudiantes match we did not have the pace or intensity that we’re used to. In Peru the game we was more consistent and we came very close to what we intend to do. Today, especially in the second half we’ve done very well, e were very offensive, looking good in terms of space and it’s just what we need to do at this stage" said the coach.
The preseason is the time to try things out and Simeone today tested an attacking trio that worked. "In the first half we were slow, but the second I tried with three forward, with Adrian Costa and Baptistão. The most important thing, no doubt , is to have a goal and we saw the forwards take the opportunities. Ultimately, I'm very happy that the tests have gone well and it’ something we can apply to the rest of the year," he said.
Finally Diego Pablo Simeone talked about one of the new signings ahead of next season, the Uruguayan Gimenez. He has no doubt that in our team he will succeed in learning from more experienced players around him, "With Giménez we have great expectations. He has to adapt to Spanish football, but basically there are no big differences. He has only to learn and absorb. He could become a very important player and we believe in him," he concluded.
