Quique S. Flores: 'Kun Agüero is a difference-maker'

The coach positively assesses his team’s performance

Quique Sánchez Flores doesn’t want any kind of euphoria after the clear victory over Rosenborg. The ‘rojiblanco’ manager stated that “we have to be prudent. We have three tough matches left. Rosenborg, in their stadium, won’t be the same as they were here. We corrected mistakes and we’re approaching the upcoming games optimistically.”

With respect to his assessment of the encounter, Quique indicated that “it’s difficult to play when a team reduces the pitch to fifty metres. Either you play fast or you make things complicated on yourself. We were fluid in our passes until the 35th minute, and in the second half we had the match under control. We got better with the entrance of Kun. Although you have to point out that Rosenborg is used to playing as hard as they can and that’s why at times they made things tough on us.”

The manager of the ‘rojiblanco’ squad didn’t want to let the chance to analyze the play of Agüero escape and said that “he’s the player that we all expected, without physical problems. He’s the type of player who makes a difference and, on top of that, he returned by scoring a goal, which is an incentive for him. Now, I’m not going to have to tell you that he’s a player capable of continuing to get better year after year.

Joel was calm. He only had to make one save. Nevertheless, in another series of concepts, long balls, passes, he played well. Our third goal came off a play that started with him. We’re pleased with his game, as it’s a link to our youth system,” he asserted.

Finally, he also had the chance to spoke about the match played by Forlán. “He made a great effort by starting the season with a final: the European SuperCup. You always ask for the maximum from him, but sometimes you have to be patient with him and know how to give him what he needs. We have to try and be correct with all of the decisions we make with him, but I believe that he’s going to be a very important player for us over the course of the season,” he wrapped up.
