Huge game in Barcelona
The Rojiblancos conclude the calendar year with a massive game against FC Barcelona at the Olímpic Lluis Companys. Atleti want to extend their good run of results and claim top spot at 21:00 CET this Saturday
Atlético de Madrid go into the game against FC Barcelona off the back of six straight wins in LaLiga and eleven in all competitions. Diego Pablo Simeone has the full squad available to him, including Lenglet and Javi Galán who were one booking away from suspension in the Getafe game but neither of them picked up a yellow card so both play at the Olímpic Lluis Companys.
In their last five league games, FC Barcelona have drawn two (both 2-2 away to Celta and Betis), won one (5-1 in Mallorca) and lost two, both at home (2-1 to Las Palmas and 1-0 against Leganés last Sunday). Barça, who beat Mallorca in their matchday 19 fixture which got brought forward, will look to secure top spot in front of their fans to conclude the year.
Atlético de Madrid want to stay in the upper echelons of the table and, to do so, are looking for a big win against FC Barcelona, which would extend this incredible winning run. It is a huge game with sole possession of first place up for grabs and ending 2024 with a win or without tasting defeat is the dream for Atleti’s supporters.
