HE TOOK PART IN ONE OF THE COUNTRY’S NATIONAL CELEBRATIONS

Miguel Ángel Gil leads an Atlético de Madrid delegation to Rwanda

Our CEO had a private meeting with the Rwandan president, Paul Kagame. Representatives from Aston Villa and PSG also attended the ‘Kwita Izina’ ceremony.

A delegation from Atlético de Madrid, led by our CEO, Miguel Ángel Gil, has visited Rwanda to attend one of the most important events of the year in the African country, the ‘Kwita Izina’. This naming ceremony for gorillas born the previous year is a major national celebration, and it is a privilege to take part by naming one of the young gorillas, a true symbol of the country. National and international figures from all walks of life are chosen to take part in this event, at which our CEO named one of the gorillas ‘Inkera’, which means ‘traditional festival’. Accompanied by Visit Rwanda, the club’s sponsor, representatives from Aston Villa and PSG also attended the ceremony.

Those taking part in the ‘Kwita Izina’ were also able to enjoy a unique experience: a trek through Volcanoes National Park to visit the gorillas in their natural habitat, thanks to the outstanding conservation work that has been carried out for years in the African country.

During this trip, Miguel Ángel Gil had the opportunity to hold a private meeting with the country’s president, Paul Kagame, during which they discussed the president’s visit to Riyadh Air Metropolitano a few months ago; our chief executive also expressed his gratitude for the invitation to visit Rwanda, which he told the Rwandan president had been a magnificent experience.

During this trip to Rwanda, the guests also visited the Kigali Genocide Memorial.
