Miguel Ángel Gil Marín spoke about Atlético de Madrid’s move to the Wanda Metropolitano, in a Keynote presentation in Madrid’s World Football Summit. He broke down how the move came to be and explained that the main reason for the move was to improve the matchday experience for the fans.
"Our move to the Wanda Metropolitano has been a resounding success for the club," he said.
Our CEO highlighted the enormous growth of the club, in the last seven years. Over the past few years, the number of club members has quadrupled to 113,603 members. Of those 113,603 members, 56,033 are season ticket holders and 10,365 others are in the wait list.
Gil also spoke about Atlético’s new partnerships with Philips and LG. These partnerships made it possible for the Wanda Metropolitano to be the first stadium in the world to be 100 percent LED and the first in Spain to have a 360° ribbon board.
