LaLiga game between teams that share history
Atlético de Madrid and Athletic Club face each other this Sunday in a new LaLiga game. A duel that will pay tribute to the 125-year history of the Basque club.
This Sunday, starting at 6:30pm CET, the Cívitas Metropolitano will be the scene of a historic duel in Spanish football. Atlético de Madrid and Athletic Club face each other on matchday 22 of LaLiga in a game that will have Juan Martínez Munuera as the main referee, assisted by Ignacio Iglesias Villanueva in the VOR room.
Our club, founded five years after the creation of Athletic Club by a group of Basque students living in Madrid, will hand over the Red & White colors to the Bilbao team on a day full of tributes. Despite playing in our stadium, we will wear the third kit and it will be Athletic Club who wears its local jersey.
Two historic teams from Spain and united by their origins, which always ensure great duels in their clashes. Ours come from an important victory against Celta de Vigo and accumulate five consecutive games without defeat (3 wins and 2 draws).
Ernesto Valverde's men, for their part, achieved an important away win against Valencia on the last matchday. They have won two consecutive games since their last defeat in LaLiga, precisely against our last rival, Celta de Vigo.
