Kun Agüero returns to work at the same rhythm as his teammates
The ‘rojiblancos’ work with their minds set on Sevilla
With their minds set on this coming Saturday’s fixture against Sevilla, Atlético de Madrid returned to work. The big news of the day was that Sergio Agüero rejoined the group work. The striker, who suffered a tough knock during the match against Zaragoza, began by doing alternative work with physical trainer Óscar Pitillas, but before the session finished rejoined the group and thus ended up working at the same rhythm as the rest of his teammates.
The ‘rojiblancos’ players began the work session with the habitual warm-up and a series of keepaway in circles. Afterwards, they did some technical-tactical drills. Quique Sánchez Flores then divided the group into three and, while one part did strength work, the others played a small-sided game and completed finishing drills. All of the players rotated through the different exercises, and to finish played a practice match across the width of the pitch. The scare of the session was produced by centre-half Álvaro Domínguez when the squad player twisted his ankle, although in the end it doesn’t look serious and he’ll be available to his coach.
For his part, central midfielder Mario Suárez didn’t take the training pitch. He worked out in the gym as he had a fever yesterday. Also out was Brazilian Elías, who is in his home country with the Club’s permission to complete his work permit proceedings.
In addition to Koke, who played the last league fixture with the first squad, were reserve team players Pulido and Borja who, after completing recovery work the day after playing with Atlético de Madrid B, rejoined the first squad group work. Also participating in the session were Noguera, Cantero and Sergio Marcos.
