Koke: 'We’ve got a team to win away from home, starting Saturday in Granada'
'I know that the coach trusts me and every day I have to prove myself'
Jorge Resurrección Merodio, Koke, is convinced that Atletico Madrid can change the losing streak away from home with a win in Granada. The midfielder was vital on Thursday in the victory of the Spanish Under-21s in Croatia and took that opportunity scoring the first of two goals.
Koke said that after two defeats away to Valencia and Barcelona, 'we can change that streak. We have not won in those two outings in the league but we have a team to win away from home, starting Saturday in Granada.'
About how the break has affected the team, he says that 'it does not hurt the rest because we´ve played a lot of games in a row.'
On the changes being introduced by Gregorio Manzano in the starting eleven, Koke says that 'the coach is doing a lot of rotations and I’ve only played two games. I have to wait for the opportunity and when I play, take it. Every player wants to play as much as possible but we are a team, there are many games and he has to rotate it because everyone has play.'
In regard to the difference between Quique Sanchez Flores and Gregorio Manzano on a personal level, Koke indicates that 'they’re different. Each coach has his style.”
He considers that Atletico should have more points on the board, but is looking forward. 'It is true that we have dropped points. We should have got more points but we must look ahead and try to get as high as possible in every game,' he said.
Finally,he was asked about an Atleti icon, Fernando Torres, and he was full of praise. 'Torres is a great player and has always shown it. He should continue in the team,' he said.
