Jonathan David: dream LaLiga debut
After making his Champions League debut last week, the Canadian striker marked his first appearance in LALIGA EA SPORTS with a fine goal after coming on in the 60th minute.
Jonathan David joined Atlético de Madrid on 1 September, and it has taken him just two weeks to open his goalscoring account for the club. His first goal came in the 90th minute against Real Sociedad, when the Canadian striker latched onto a pass from Grimaldo, another of the night's goalscorers alongside Giuliano. David produced a brilliant individual move before finishing with a delicate left-footed strike into the far corner, beating the Real Sociedad goalkeeper and giving our team some breathing room. It was a goal he will never forget: his first in our colours and his first in LALIGA EA SPORTS. He needed just half an hour to make the perfect start to life in the Spanish top flight.
Our number 15 had already made his debut for the club last week, coming on in the 73rd minute of our UEFA Champions League league phase opener against Liverpool.
Now, Jonathan David is working to build on his promising start in LALIGA and is looking forward to playing at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano as an Atlético player, as he explained in the mixed zone at Anoeta: “I played there a couple of years ago as an opponent, and now I’ll be playing there as a home player, so I’m really excited. I can’t wait to see the fans and experience the atmosphere”.
