Griezmann extends his contract until 2021

Antoine Griezmann has renewed his contract with our club until 30th June, 2021. The French striker extends his contractual relationship for one more season with Atlético de Madrid.

Born in Mâcon, the 25 year-old player has finished two excellent seasons in our team since he arrived from Real Sociedad in the 2014-15 season. In the first season as a red and white player, he became the top scorer of the team with 25 goals in all the competitions, 22 of them were scored in the 37 matches he played in La Liga. In the second year, he beat his own record with 32 goals: 22 in the national league, 7 in the Champions League and 3 in the King's Cup. Once again, he was the top scorer of our team.

Griezmann is very happy with the agreement: "I'm very satisfied, very happy to keep belonging to this family and this project. I want to improve every year, and the club, the coaches, and my teammates, can help me reach this goal."

Antoine is very clear about the goals for next season: "Personally, I'd like to score more goals, play more minutes and matches, assist more... My goal is always to be better than the previous season. In the collective level, we are looking to do better than last year as well."

Griezmann considers that, to achieve these goals, the ongoing task of maintaining the group's structure is very important: "It's essential to continue keeping the important players, with the coach. We're lucky to be in this club that wants to improve and reach the top and help us keep growing."

And he doesn't forget about the fans, who are so important to our team: "I can only thank them for all the support they're always giving to the team, and ask them to keep supporting us like they've done until this moment. On my behalf, I just want to let them know that I'll keep giving my best on the field as a way to thank them for all the affection they show towards me."
