Griezmann continues to make history
Antoine Griezmann played his 421st official match for Atlético de Madrid, tying level with Juan Carlos Arteche and joining the top 10 list of players with the most appearances for the club.
The French international is already a legend at Atlético de Madrid for many reasons, but his legacy continues to grow with every match. Against Mallorca, he matched the iconic Arteche in the Top 10 of players with the most official appearances in the red-and-white shirt, with 421 matches.
The list is topped by captain Koke, with 668 matches, followed by illustrious names such as Adelardo (553), Tomás (483), Oblak (474), Collar (468), Aguilera (455), Correa (450), Saúl (427), Calleja (425), and now Arteche and Griezmann tied on 421.
Griezmann has already broken the club’s all-time goal-scoring record, surpassing Luis Aragonés’ 173. The Frenchman now has 195 goals and is just five away from reaching the milestone of 200. As if that weren’t enough, Griezmann also scored the first-ever goals for Atlético at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano — then known as the Wanda Metropolitano — netting against Málaga in LaLiga and against Chelsea in the Champions League.
Now, he continues to add to his Atlético de Madrid legacy. He has already scored 14 goals this campaign across all competitions and is just five away from reaching a figure that only a select few have achieved: 200 goals.
