VERY INTENSE MATCH BETWEEN TWO OF THE CUP SEMI-FINALISTS

Goalless tie in Vitoria

Pacheco and Moyá were the ones responsible for the scoreboard not changing at Mendizorroza. The keepers were critical. On Wednesday we play against Barcelona at the Calderón in the first leg match of the King’s Cup semi-final.

ALAVÉS 0 – 0 ATLÉTICO

Alavés: Pacheco; Kiko Femenía, Feddal, Laguardia, Theo; Camarasa (Santos, 77’), Manu García, Llorente, Ibai (Edgar, 65’); Toquero (Vigaray, 83’) and Deyverson.

Atlético de Madrid: Moyá; Vrsaljko, Giménez (Savic, 55’), Godín, Filipe Luis; Carrasco (Fernando Torres, 62’), Koke, Saúl, Nico Gaitán; Griezmann and Gameiro (Correa, 60’).

Referee: Ocón Arráiz (Committee from La Rioja). Booked the home players Llorente (54’), Deyverson (82’) and Manu García (93’); and the visiting Giménez (45’) and Godín (93’).

Two of the semi-finalists of the King’s Cup played at Mendizorroza in an intense and exciting match in which there were few chances to score. The first ones to try were the home players, but Ibai's drive was cleared by Moyá. It was our turn next, with two shots by Griezmann, but the clearest one was for Alavés, with a shot by Laguardia that hit the crossbar.

In the second half, Moyá had two good interventions to finished from Edgar and Camarasa, although the clearest for our team was Gaitán's, but Pacheco guessed the cut of the Argentinian in the one-on-one. With Correa and Fernando Torres, the red and white danger increased but that did not translate into a goal. In the end, a hard-fought point to begin the second round before playing the King’s Cup semi-final against Barcelona.
