On the morning of Sunday, the 20th of September, the spot of the Atlético de Madrid Foundation and the Spanish Heart Foundation was presented at Majadahonda’s Sports City, on the occasion of World Heart Day and which stars José María Giménez.

After the presentation, the Uruguayan centre-back made it clear that the aim for this season is to compete in every game. "It is clear that we want to qualify for important things and we know that FC Barcelona and Real Madrid have a foot in, we also seek to qualify. We opt for the third place, if later, during the season we can compete, we won’t lie to ourselves, we will have to compete like the year we became League Champions, but right now we opt to qualify for the Champions League and get ahead of Valencia and Sevilla, who are always fighting with us for the third place," he indicated.

Giménez claimed that this year we have a very competitive team. "We have players who are adapting. Our mentality is to keep a clean sheet because we know that we will have chances to score," he pointed out.

Giménez talked about the trust that Simeone is depositing in him. "It's a big responsibility but I face it with calmness and most of all, I try to enjoy every moment. I spent a year without playing, another year that I played little, and now the coach has given me the confidence to start the year as a starter, and I have to keep fighting and try to give the best and show him he can rely on me."

"Spending two years in Europe makes you mature greatly at a football level, you feel the difference, I've played very important things for me and for my career; this generates lots of confidence, more responsibility, because I now feel much more commitment in the team and in the national team and it’s an obligation to do it well," he concluded.
