Gabi: “The team has kept on fighting and working”
The Atlético midfielder acknowledged that the team ran out of steam at the extra time, but that as captain he’s proud of all his teammates’ work.
Gabi said at the end of the meeting "We’ve been close but we knew that until the referee whistles, it hasn’t ended. Before the extra time, the coach told us told us to trust in us and work as usual, but the team didn’t have strength for more and we have to congratulate Real Madrid".
To conclude, the captain reviewed the fixture and assured "In the extra time we had few chances and they played better. The team has kept on fighting and working, I'm proud of our players who’ve given their all", he concluded.
