European Football Clubs surpasses 800 member clubs
Miguel Ángel Gil took part in the 32nd General Assembly of the European Club Association, now renamed European Football Clubs (EFC), held in Rome, where it was also announced that the organisation now represents over 800 member clubs.
Our CEO, Miguel Ángel Gil, attended the 32nd General Assembly of European Football Clubs (EFC) on Wednesday and Thursday as a member of its Executive Committee. At the event in Rome, the evolution of the organisation’s name, previously European Club Association (ECA), was announced. This rebranding and new corporate image reflect a deep modernisation strategy, now encompassing more than 800 clubs, and reinforce its position as the largest and most influential club organisation worldwide.
European Football Clubs, chaired by Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, emphasised that this evolution "better reflects whom the organisation represents and what it stands for," and that EFC’s mission is "to help each member club grow and develop, while ensuring that collectively clubs are at the centre of decision-making at both regional and global levels in football."
The active presence of our CEO at events such as the Rome assembly underlines Atlético de Madrid’s commitment to shaping the future of European football. Miguel Ángel Gil has been a member of the Executive Committee of European Football Clubs since 2019 and is currently the only representative of Spanish football on the organisation’s Executive Committee.
Our CEO highlighted that the assembly "perfectly illustrates the great unity of European football, with over 800 member clubs from all 55 European associations," also noting the presence of UEFA, “with whom clubs are working ever more closely. UEFA and EFC represent the entire European football family.”
