PREVIEW | RC DEPORTIVO DE LA CORUÑA – ATLÉTICO DE MADRID

Estadio Riazor hosts the Copa del Rey round of 16

Our team travel to face Deportivo de La Coruña this Tuesday at 21:00 CET in a single-leg tie.

The Estadio Riazor will host the Copa del Rey round of 16 this Tuesday. Deportivo de La Coruña and Atleti will battle it out from 21:00 CET in a one-off tie for a place in the quarter-finals.

Our team head into this Copa del Rey clash following a narrow 2-1 defeat in the Spanish Super Cup derby in Jeddah. Deportivo, meanwhile, come into the match off the back of a 1-1 draw with UD Las Palmas in the Canary Islands.

As for both sides’ route to the round of 16, Simeone’s men beat Atlético Baleares 3-2 in the round of 32. A Griezmann brace and a goal from Raspadori, along with a penalty save from Musso, secured victory at the Estadio Balear. Deportivo, meanwhile, beat Sámano 5-1 in the first round, Sabadell 2-0 in the second and Mallorca 1-0 in the round of 32.

This will be our first meeting with Deportivo since 1 April 2018. On that occasion, we claimed a 1-0 home win thanks to a penalty converted by Kevin Gameiro. Our most recent match in A Coruña came a few months earlier, on 4 November 2017, when we also won by the same scoreline thanks to a Thomas Partey goal in added time.

Let’s go for a place in the quarter-finals!
