Draw in Villarreal
Ángel Correa scored both goals, both on passes from Antoine Griezmann.
A 2-2 draw against Villarreal at the Estadio de la Cerámica to bring LaLiga to a close on Sunday, in the match corresponding to the matchday 38.
The opening stages of the match were vibrant, as after less than 20 minutes of play, both teams had already found the net. In the 9th minute, Jackson opened the scoring with a low right-footed shot from inside the six-yard box that flew just inside Grbic's long post, and in the 18th minute, Correa restored parity with a brilliant piece of skill from Griezmann's pass. The Argentinian finished off a free kick from the right flank by the Frenchman, who added his fifteenth -but not last- assist in the competition.
After the restart, the Griezmann-Correa partnership linked up again to make it 1-2 in the 56th minute, again with the '8' providing the assist and the '10' scoring. This time, the rosarino received the ball from the left flank and saved from the goalkeeper in the centre of the box to send the ball into the back of the net.
After this goal came Villarreal's best minutes of the game, which tested the reflexes of a spectacular Grbic, who with several saves of enormous merit eventually prevented the Castilian equaliser. However, a blow to the wrist forced the Croatian goalkeeper to leave the game, giving way to home-grown Gomis, who made his official debut for the first team.
Late in the game, Jorge Pascual made it 2-2, resulting in a share of the points in our final game in LaLiga 2022/23.
