Double session ahead of the game against Nacional
Atletico Madrid put in a double session on the first day in Uruguay. Simeone worked on tactics ahead of the game against Nacional on Sunday in the final game of the Euro-American Cup.
Diego Pablo Simeone designed a double session on the first day in the Uruguayan capital. The news of the day was the incorporation of Cristian Rodriguez and Diego Godin, who trained for the first time in South American soil with the rest of the players who’d made the journey to Uruguay. The two participated in the double session to prepare for the final commitment of the Euro-American Cup against Nacional.
The morning session lasted an hour and a half and was divided into two parts. During the first 45 minutes, the players worked in the gym and then went out on to the pitch to complete the session with several Rondos and various tactical exercises in tight spaces without opponents.
Following the exercise, the players had the opportunity to teach a clinic to a group of 80 children from different clubs in Montevideo. Cristian Rodriguez, Diego Godin, Leandro Cabrera, Martin Demichelis, Emiliano Insua, Leo Baptistão, Aquino and goalkeeper Bono were responsible for leading the small exercises, which were enjoyed by all.
In the afternoon, the Atletico squad moved to a new location for training. The Luis Franzini Stadium, home of Defensor Sporting, the team where Leandro Cabrera signed from, hosted the afternoon session which lasted for an hour and 15 minutes. Atletico were Alejo Ivan, who did not train as he was unwell.
The last session of the day saw Diego Pablo Simeone continue preparing the game against Nacional, the last game for the rojiblancos in the Euro-American Cup. Oscar Ortega managed the first part of the training which was marked by continuous running. After the physical work, the tactical exercises began ahead of tomorrow’s game in the Centenario stadium.
