Martin Demichelis has committed to a season with Atletico Madrid. The Argentine defender, who has successfully passed a medical examination conducted in the Fremap clinics in Majadahonda and Las Rozas aswell as the Faculty of Medicine of the Universidad San Pablo CEU, has signed at the Vicente Calderon and subsequently incorporated in the training camp with the rest of the squad in Los Angeles de San Rafael. The player will be presented on Friday, July 12, at 13 pm in the Atletico stadium.
The defender, 32 years old, has played for big clubs such as River Plate and Bayern Munich and has been at Malaga in recent years, where he played 84 games scoring 7 goals. A full international with Argentina, with whom he played the World Cup in South Africa, Demichelis has won two club Clausura titles, four Bundesliga titles and four German Cups.
Jose Luis Perez Caminero highlighted thar "Demichelis has experience, he will come in handy in the many challenges we face from August. He will be a very difficult defender to overcome, he is used to playing in big competitions and will add a lot. It reinforces a defence that is performing at a high level, so it will increase competition, which will benefit the team."
The director of football also went on to say that "he is a winner and a competitive character. He’s a player whose delivery is complete, he has great professionalism and that will allow us to increase the level of the current squad to successfully tackle the objectives of the next season".
