Defeat at the derby
A late goal by Hermoso it was not enough to avoid the lost in the derby.
The first warning of the game came from our team, a long free kick into the box found the head of Felipe, who shot over the crossbar. Simeone's men were very much in the game and the next dangerous approach would be from our team: a pass filtered to Carrasco who tried his luck a bit off-target. The ball touched a defender and was turned for a corner. From that corner kick the ball was left dead in the Madrid area without anyone being able to finish. Atleti kept trying, this time Kondogbia from a long way out and the ball went inches past the post.
However, it was Real Madrid who struck first in their first approach to Oblak's goal, with a ball from Tchouameni behind the defence and a shot from Rodrygo, which made it 0-1 in the 18th minute. Atleti continued to try and the next dangerous move after the goal conceded would be from Griezmann with a shot that Courtois once again sent to a corner. In the 36th minute Vinícius entered the area and took a shot that, after a touch from Oblak, hit the post. Valverde appeared on the rebound to push it in and make it 0-2. The Red &White team didn't give up and Carrasco tried his luck again in the 39th minute, but the ball was blocked by Courtois. That's how we got to the break.
The second half started with less pace than before half-time. The first chance came from a short corner in which Griezmann put in a dangerous cross that Felipe narrowly missed. The minutes passed and Atleti dominated possession without managing to generate danger. It was now the 83rd minute and Griezmann took a corner to the far post where he found the head of Hermoso, who finished and scored to cut the deficit on the scoreboard. There were 10 minutes left in which both fans and players were going to give their all. Despite the final effort from the whole team, the result was not going to change with the team going all out in attack.
