Courtois receives the Zamora Trophy

The Atletico keeper received the trophy for his goalkeeping last season at the gala organized by Marca in the Red Room of the Canal Theatre.

After conceding 29 goals in 37 matches, 21 year old Thibaut became the youngest winner of the Zamora and sixth in the history of Atletico Madrid. Among the young winners were Juan Carlos Ablanedo who Courtois beat by just a few months, Victor Valdes, who did it at 23 years old and Santiago Cañizares at 24.

The gala was also saw Leo Messi awarded with the Pichichi Trophy as top scorer in La Liga 2012/2013 League, which was collected by Toni Freixa, spokesman for Barcelona, due to the forward recovering from injury in Argentina, the former Barca coach Tito Vilanova won the managers award, Alvaro Negredo with the Zarra Trophy as national top scorer, his award was picked up by his representative Gelu Rodríguez, Carlos Velasco Carballo won the Guruceta Trophy as the best referee of the First Division. And the award for best player in the League, the Di Stefano Trophy was won by Cristiano Ronaldo and presented by Di Stéfano himself.
