ANNUAL MEETING WITH CLUB EMPLOYEES

Celebrating the third edition of ‘El Atleti que viene’

Our CEO Miguel Ángel Gil led the meeting, alongside Carlos Bucero, Director of Football, and Óscar Mayo, Chief Operating Officer, in order to share the Club’s global vision in the face of the challenges and aims in this new cycle.

This Friday, the auditorium at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano played host to the third edition of ‘El Atleti que viene’ (The Atleti to Come). The event was headed by our CEO Miguel Ángel Gil, accompanied by Director of Football Carlos Bucero and Chief Operating Officier Óscar Mayo. The annual event involving the Club’s employees is about sharing the Club’s global vision and reinforcing the commitment of the entire entity towards the aims and challenges of the new cycle.

During the day, there was a stocktaking of the work down throughout the preview season and the successes attained. They also shared with everyone the upcoming challenges in a new stage, which is replete with excitement and ambition. In addition, there was a reaffirmation of the commitment to keep developing the Club at every level, keeping the supporters ever-present in that growth.

Miguel Ángel Gil began the talk, highlighting the joint efforts of the Club’s various departments throughout the last year. “Our fanbase must remain at the heart of everything we do: our almost 170,000 members, over 61,500 season tickethilders, and more than 100 million fans worldwide. The club also has five major shareholders, as well as 22,000 minor shareholders. We, of course, need to evolve, but without losing our sense of identity and our commitment to service. We must always protect the Club and the feeling it inspires, which is so important to millions of people,” our CEO continued, before handing over to Carlos Bucero.

Our Director of Football went over the sporting results, analysing the development undertaken at the Club’s franchise teams around the world, as well as Atlético de Madrid Femenino and the Academy. “Last season, 13 teams from our Academy were crowned champions, and ten Academy players made their first-team debuts. Three have stayed: Esquivel, Dani Martínez, and Arnau Ortiz. Eight more have begun their professional football journeys. This process requires work, and Atlético de Madrid has been working hard for years now,” Carlos Bucero explained.

Alongside him, Mateu Alemany, Director of Professional Men’s Football, spoke on the anniversary of his first year with us: “From the outside, Atlético de Madrid always seemed to me to be a very special club, and from within, that has been confirmed to me. Its stability makes it special.”

Finally, Óscar Mayo took the floor to sum up last year’s financial performance. “We’re coming off a season in which we reached record revenue: €500 million,” he said. “It was a busy year. Our objective for the future is to become a top-8 club in the world in terms of revenue and brand recognition.”

The day concluded with the participation of employees from various areas at the Club, who shared their professional and personal relationships with Atleti, in a show of inspiration for the future.
