Atlético goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo has been given medical clearance
He suffered a torn right anterior cruciate ligament
Sergio Asenjo, after a six-month ordeal in the form of injury, was given medical clearance on Friday 12 November. The ‘rojiblanco’ goalkeeper is completely recovered from the injury that he suffered at El Molinón Stadium on 8 May. That fateful day, Asenjo tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
The young Atlético netminder has always kept his faith and, together with his iron will and his hard work, has put an end to his nightmare. Just four days after his injury, Atlético de Madrid won the UEFA Europa League and the images of Raúl García or Joel wearing Asenjo’s jersey were seen all over the world.
Six months later, and also thanks to the invaluable work of the Club medical services, with Doctor José María Villalón at the head, and of Oscar Pitillas, the first team physical trainer, the valiant keeper is back at the orders of Quique Sánchez Flores.
