Atlético de Madrid Femenino are to participate in the 2019 International Champions Cup. The second edition of the prestigious tournament organised by Relevent Sports will take place in the summer.
The other participating sides will be North Carolina Courage, Olympique Lyonnais and Manchester City, it was announced in New York on Friday.
WakeMed Soccer Park, which seats 10,000 fans, will host all of the tournament’s games. The matches are to take place between Aug. 15 and Aug. 18.
Atlético de Madrid Femenino captain Amanda Sampedro spoke about the ICC’s importance.
“It’s an honour for us to be able to play this tournament with the best teams in the world. It will be a great experience that will allow us to start the season in the best possible way,” our midfielder said.
