Atlético de Madrid was clearly superior to a Valencia that hanged on until the first goal. Nuno’s team saw how our guys created chances, one after the other, until Jackson Martínez took advantage of a ball that was not reached by the centre-backs of Valencia to sentence Jaume. Atlético shifted up a gear in the match and was looking for the second one before half-time and it came with a work of art from Carrasco. He got the ball doing a slalom, and from the top, scored a goal which made the Calderón stand.
This is how the first half ended, with applause from the stands and a clear superiority against a direct rival. After the half-time, Jaume Doménech saved his team from a wider margin with saves of genuine merit. But the third didn't arrive and rather rigorous penalty got Valencia into the game.
