An amazing goal scored by Correa sentences Betis
A great win for our team against Betis. The best chances came from the Red & White team, with Giménez's header hitting the crossbar, but Correa's goal in the 86th minute sealed an important victory.
A power to power match between Atlético and Betis. Hostilities between the two sides started very early on. Rui Silva had to intervene several times in the first half. With a stellar Griezmann, who had received the trophy for the best player in LaLiga in March, the red and white team began to approach the Betis goal with danger. All the balls went through to the Frenchman, who once again gave a lesson in how to lead the team, well supported by Koke and Lemar, with Llorente and Carrasco as wingers.
That was how the first chance for our team came about. In the second minute, a free-kick from Molina was headed in by Griezmann and saved by the visitors' goalkeeper. Betis responded in the 7th minute with a shot from Ayoze that Oblak saved. Next, a run down the flank by Molina ended with a cross that Griezmann headed into the side netting again. Despite our team's attempts to take the lead, the score was still 0-0 at half-time.
The second half started as the first had done, with good play from our team and with a clear chance. In the 49th minute, Griezmann took a corner kick and Giménez's header hit the crossbar and the ball went wide. Shortly after, Savic's header was blocked by Rui Silva after a free-kick from Molina. The team went for more and after the substitutions of Correa and De Paul for Lemar and Molina came another clear chance. Llorente's run down the right with a low cross to the far post was met by Carrasco, only for Rui Silva to save with his foot.
But it was Correa's goal that did get on the scoreboard. The Argentinian received a pass from Griezmann, fought with three opponents, took the ball and, inside the box, dodged another defender to beat Rui Silva with a low shot just inside the right-hand post. A goal that brought delirium to the stands of the Cítivas Metropolitano and with which the match would end.
