Aiming for the Champions League final!
Atlético are looking for their ticket to the grand final of the tournament after the 1-1 draw in the first leg of the semi-finals, which keeps the tie completely open and even.
This Tuesday at 21:00 CEST, we play the second leg of the Champions League semi-final against Arsenal, looking to advance to the final after a 1-1 draw last week at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano.
Except for Barrios and Nico, who remain injured, the entire squad has travelled to London. We come into the fixture after a convincing victory at the Mestalla (2-0), whilst the Gunners took their own win against Fulham (3-0).
We face this historic encounter with fond memories of the only previous meeting between the two teams in a European tie, a context similar to that of this Tuesday, that being the UEFA Europa League 2017/18. In that encounter, following a 1-1 draw in the first leg, our team tipped the scales in their favour on London soil, where Antoine Griezmann scored Atlético's goal.
The match will be officiated by German referee Daniel Siebert, who also took charge of the second leg of this season's Round of 16 tie against Tottenham in London. It was also in London that we secured our place in the Champions League final, defeating Chelsea at Stamford Bridge (3-1) during the 2013/14 season, with goals from Adrián, Diego Costa and Arda Turan.
Let's do it again, Atleti!
