We will face Elche in the Round of 16
Atlético de Madrid will face Elche in the Round of 16 of the Copa del Rey, following the draw held this Wednesday at the RFEF headquarters in the Ciudad del Fútbol de Las Rozas. The knockout tie will be played as a single-leg match on either the 15th of January at the Martínez Valero Stadium.
Atlético de Madrid reached this stage of the Copa del Rey by defeating Unió Esportiva Vic 2-0 in the first round, with two goals from Julián Álvarez. In the second round, we overcame CP Cacereño with a 3-1 victory at the Estadio Príncipe Felipe in Cáceres, coming from behind after the home side had taken an early lead. Lenglet equalised, De Paul scored to make it 2-1, and the third came from Julián Álvarez, who is Atlético's top scorer in the competition with three goals. In the Round of 32, we defeated Marbella FC 1-0 at La Rosaleda in Málaga, thanks to a goal from Griezmann.
Elche, on the other hand, advanced by knocking out LaLiga EA Sports side UD Las Palmas with an impressive 4-0 victory. Before that, the 'Franjiverdes' had knocked out Coria (3-0) in the first round and Yeclano (1-0) in the second. Elche’s squad includes goalkeeper Miguel San Román, who is a product of the Atlético youth academy.
