Our team reached a historical number of goals in LaLiga this Saturday at the Calderón after scoring 4,500 goals in Spanish football's showpiece event.
Fernando Torres scored our club’s 4,500th goal in LaLiga this Saturday against Leganés. It happened on 51 minutes, when Torres beat the visitor’s goalkeeper Herrerín, scoring Atlético’s second goal on the score. Minutes before, it was also Torres who had scored our team’s first goal. With this goal, we have reached 4,500 goals scored in the 2,597 matches played in the First Division.
Everything started on the 10th of February, 1929. Vicente Palacios scored the first goal of our history in the top flight of Spanish football.
