Together with WhaleFin, we promote the campaign 'Clean Inland Seas'
The Atleti president and patron of the Foundation, Enrique Cerezo; Adelardo Rodríguez, president of the Foundation; and Juanfran Torres, Atleti legend, led the Red & White expedition, which was accompanied by Antonio Sin Hernández, mayor of Pelayos de la Presa, and María Mercedes Zarzalejo, mayoress of San Martín de Valdeiglesias.
On Monday 24 October, the Madrid municipalities of Pelayos de la Presa and San Martín de Valdeiglesias hosted the launch of the 'Clean Inland Seas' campaign, promoted by the Atleti Foundation together with WhaleFin in collaboration with the local councils of these towns.
The action took place simultaneously in the riverbed of the Arroyo del Molino de la Presa, located at the foot of the Monastery of Santa María la Real de Valdeiglesias in Pelayos de la Presa, and in the Playa de la Virgen de la Nueva, in San Martín de Valdeiglesias, which has the only blue flag in the Community of Madrid. At both sites, a Red & White expedition carried out the removal and classification of all types of waste generated by human action, thus helping to safeguard the ecosystem of these areas and to facilitate the correct transit of the water of the stream. A talk was also given to those present to raise awareness of the importance of the conservation of the seas and oceans.
The expedition was led by Enrique Cerezo, Atleti president and patron of the Foundation; Adelardo Rodríguez, president of the Foundation; and Juanfran Torres, Atleti legend, who were accompanied by Antonio Sin Hernández, mayor of Pelayos de la Presa, and María Mercedes Zarzalejo, mayor of San Martín de Valdeiglesias. Also present were club employees, volunteers from the Foundation, members of the men's and women's teams from the Academy and the captains of the Atleti Foundation's LaLiga Genuine team, representing all their teammates.
