PREVIEW | ATLÉTICO DE MADRID VS. REAL MADRID

Atleti on the hunt for the quarters in UCL derby

On Wednesday 12 March, the Riyadh Air Metropolitano will play host to the second leg of our round of 16 tie against Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Atleti have one of their most important games of the season coming up at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano this Wednesday.

Simeone’s side will have the advantage of home support when they take on Real Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League Round of 16 tie. This exciting European derby kicks off at 9pm CET. Polish referee Szymon Marciniak will take charge of the encounter.

The Rojiblancos will need to overturn a one-goal deficit if they’re to qualify for the quarter-finals after the first leg at the Santiago Bernabéu ended 2-1. Julián Alvarez, Rodrygo and Brahim Díaz provided the goals.

This is the fourth derby of the season against Real Madrid following the aforementioned Champions League game and the two meetings in LaLiga, both of which finished 1-1.

Atleti reached the knock-out rounds with a fifth-place finish in the league phase, which meant they went straight into the Round of 16 without having to go through the play-offs. Wednesday night’s opposition did, however, have to navigate the knock-out play-offs, in which they beat Manchester City.

Let’s reach the quarterfinals!
