Tiago renews until 2017
The Portuguese midfielder extended his commitment to our club for another season.
Tiago Mendes has extended his contractual relationship with our club until 30 June, 2017. The Portuguese international midfielder reached an agreement with our entity to continue defending the red and white for another season.
Our '5' joined our club in the 2009/10 season, arriving from Juventus. Since then, he has become one of the key pillars of the team and the dressing room, having played 213 matches with the red and white shirt, in which he has scored 18 goals.
In his career as an Atlético, Tiago has managed to raise a Europa League (11/12), a King’s Cup (12/13), a League (13/14), a Spanish Super Cup (2014), and two European Super Cups (2010 and 2012).
The Portuguese international, who suffered a serious injury in his right leg this season, has recovered successfully and returned to the competition in the last match against Celta, where he was received with a thunderous ovation by the Vicente Calderón.
