UNAOC and Fundación Atlético de Madrid team up in an effort to promote “One Humanity” campaign
Mr. Miguel Ángel Moratinos and Mr. Enrique Cerezo signed an agreement between the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) and the Fundación Atlético de Madrid.
The United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) and the Fundación Atlético de Madrid have signed an agreement that identifies joint projects with the aim of promoting the fundamental values both entities share such as sport as a vector of diversity, mutual respect and inclusiveness.
The High Representative of UNAOC, Mr. Miguel Ángel Moratinos, and the President of the Fundación Atlético de Madrid, Mr. Enrique Cerezo, signed a Memorandum of Understanding, which will soon come to fruition with different projects involving Atlético de Madrid within the One Humanity campaign.
Mr. Cerezo expressed his satisfaction with the agreement: “It is an absolute honour for our Foundation that the United Nations gives us the chance to take part in the Alliance of Civilizations, which will give us the chance to promote the fundamental values in our mission with different projects and actions. We would like to specially thank Miguel Ángel Moratinos for the closeness and confidence he has shown us since the very first meeting, where we started talking about this project that has come true today”, the President of Fundación Atlético de Madrid stated.
Meanwhile, Mr. Miguel Ángel Moratinos stated “It is great to see Atlético de Madrid, one of the top soccer clubs in the world, join the One Humanity campaign. Big soccer teams, with their millions of fans all over the world, have the capacity to powerfully transmit the message of togetherness and respect we pursue, and the Atlético family will for sure become great ambassadors of this venture. And, on a personal level, seeing the club I have supported since my childhood become the first one to join the One Humanity campaign is something really special. We are really thankful to the president Enrique Cerezo for making it possible and for being so interested and active since the very first moment”, he said.
