UNAOC’s ‘One Humanity’ campaign was created to promote the notion that diversity enriches the human race, and therefore, we must not only protect it, but also celebrate it. The campaign promotes pluralism of cultures, nationalities, ethnic groups and identities forming a mosaic that enriches humanity.
This is the core idea behind the ‘One Humanity’ campaign, a concept that stands-up against racial discrimination, xenophobia and cultural-based conflicts and highlights the values of mutual respect and collaboration amongst different cultures. These are also the core values embraced and promoted by the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations which was formally launched in 2005 by Mr. Kofi Annan, former United Nations Secretary-General with the co-sponsorship of the Governments of Spain and Turkey. Mr. Miguel Ángel Moratinos, the former Foreign Affairs Minister of Spain, leads the New York based organization, after being appointed by the UN Secretary, General Antonio Guterres since January 2019.
As a vector for peace and development, the world of sport has a key role to play in the “One Humanity” campaign. Sport is a universal language that brings people together. Sport’s powerful and valuable voice spreads the message of togetherness, respect, tolerance and teamwork.
In this context, prominent sports institutions and entities have already begun joining this campaign in which athletes, as well as fans, will join forces to emphasize that no matter where we come from, what our traditions are and what languages we speak, we are all ‘One Humanity’.
Through this collaboration agreement with UNAOC, the Fundación Atlético de Madrid adheres to the ‘One Humanity’ campaign, ushering their partnership with launching a video featuring players from all the club’s categories, together with one player from the Fundación who takes part in LaLiga Genuine.
