Atlético de Madrid is mourning the death of José Antonio Reyes
José Antonio Reyes has passed away aged 35. Defending our shirt, he won two UEFA Europa League and the 2010 European Super Cup, in which he scored the first goal of the match.
Today is a sad day for the the Atlético de Madrid family. We are mourning the death of our ex-player José Antonio Reyes (Utrera, Sevilla, Sept. 1, 1983) aged 35, after suffering a traffic accident.
The red and white winger played 154 matches (103 in the league, 19 in the cup, 6 UEFA Champions League, 25 UEFA Europa League and one European Super Cup) during 4 seasons, during which he won two UEFA Europa League titles (2009/10 and 2011/12) and one European Super Cup (2010), in which he scored the first goal of the match against Inter Milan and was named the best player of the match in Monaco.
José Antonio Reyes joined our club in the 2007/08 season, and after playing for Benfica the following season as a loaner, he wore the red and white shirt from 2009/10 until January 2012.
