Sixth consecutive win
Atlético de Madrid beat Granada soundly and clearly thanks to goals from Godín and Griezmann. It’s the sixth consecutive win of our team.
Granada: Andrés Fernández; Foulquier, Babin, Lombán, Biraghi; Rochina, Fran Rico (Piti, 77’), Rubén Pérez; Sucess, El Arabi (Nico López, 81’) and Peñaranda (Rober Ibáñez, 63’).
Atlético de Madrid: Oblak; Juanfran, Giménez, Godín, Filipe Luis; Gabi, Saúl (Óliver Torres, 63’), Koke; Carrasco (Thomas, 80’), Fernando Torres and Griezmann.
Referee: Prieto Iglesias (Committee from Navarra). Booked the home players Foulquier (19’) and Fran Rico (30’); and the visiting Saúl (40’).
GOALS:
0-1. 20’. Godín heads to the net from inside the box a corner kick thrown by Koke.
0-2. 76’. Griezmann finishes after a perfect pass from Óliver Torres.
Tiago was on the minds of our players. He was not on the field for the first time in the League but his teammates were willing to dedicate the match to him. First, with the supporting t-shirts with which they took the field, and then with Godín’s goal. The Uruguayan scored from a corner thrown by Koke and went to the bench to show the shirt with the '5' of the Portuguese. That indicates what Tiago means to the team and how united our team is.
That goal marked the development of the first half, leaving Granada quite affected and with some other red and white opportunities to have knocked out the Nasrids definitely. After half time, the game followed the same script. Only the second goal was missing to close the fixture and Griezmann scored once again to put the 0-2 on the scoreboard. Now, we have to think about next Tuesday’s Champions League match against Benfica, where we play for the first place of the group, since both teams have already qualified.
